These aftermarket lights are terrible. They don't find my 98 TDI well at all, very large gaps on the sides and the rubber trim is too short to cover anything more than a centimeter gap.

The bulbs are very difficult to change. Not because how far in one is (VW design), but because the retaining clips are nearly useless. The slot for the bulbs are malformed and the retaining clips do not want to go back down without bending them and they don't sit in the right spot on the bulb so the bulb ends up being crooked.

The lenses on the assmb. is smooth and clear. However, don't think about ever removing them. (you should be able to) They are glued into place.

Once I got the assemblies in the car as good as I could manage to get them (tried to adjust the internal assembly mount to lessing the gap/angle) I found that the light project was bad. Light isn't projected evenly and lots of dark areas. Looking at the reflection surfaces, they are not very smooth, not even. Although, the bulb angles (due to poor retainment) may also be off and projecting at the wrong angles.

Attempting to adjust the bean angles was the final straw. Adjusting horizontally only moves a slight bit, vertical adjustment was worse. So bad that the adjustment screw (brittle plastic) actually screwed out of the assembly. It only took about 3 full revolutions for it to come out. looking inside I found that they are barely holding to anything and the pressure of trying to adjust the internal bulb housing forces the screw outward.

In the end, I could not use these light assemblies. Light was all over the place, including directly at oncoming drivers. The large gaps between the fender body and lights caused a whistling wind noise.
I ended up buying another brand of aftermarket lights from one of the large online shipping sites, at the same aprx. price, and they worked like a champ. Perfect fit, easy install, etc... AND a clear & easy return policy offered by both seller and the manufacturer. No hassles or "re-stock" fees, return shipping, etc... I learned my lesson.
